For this reason I almost bought Blitzkrieg, but Normandy simply has the most content by far and figured I'd go there. You can actually tell right away the maps in Normandy are more 'meh' compared to the newer stuff just by playing the demos. What it doesn't take are the superior maps, though apparently the map 'DLC' has some good stuff. Should be mentioned that the newer CM's are considered superior in many ways, though Normandy takes most of the developments for itself as well. Another time a round ricocheted off a tank and blew a hole through a halftrack hiding down the road. I had a Panther overshoot my Sherman, but the 88mm round flew into a stand of trees and exploded through the branches, peppering a mortar team standing innocently beneath. Every shot being simulated always leads to some fun results. The tank combat is way ahead of anything I've seen. I played the Shock Force demos and there's no clearer demonstration of infantry simulations then those games, which are in essence very narrow combat scenarios which heavily emphasize correct tactics. General sense is you command as close to real life expectations as possible and proceed from there. The game's simulation of infantry combat is still leagues and leagues and leagues ahead of everyone else. Playing through one of the Normandy campaigns now (Road to Montebourg) on Elite (mostly just affects LoS rules Iron affects allied LoS rules but in the sense of being unnecessarily painful on the user interface). I suppose a decade+ blacklisting of Battlefront can subside for now.Īnyway, CM is still the elite, top of the pile simulation. Yeah I cucked out anyway and bought the Normandy big bundle. I've got a hunch that CMx01's arrival on GOG is more than likely a feeler of sorts in BF slumbering out of its cave. Remember how niche Paradox used to be? Now two of their grand strat games are in the top 100 of most played on Steam. Slitherine had a HumbleBundle just last year and sold a shitload of copies to move a bunch of stagnant product. Most notably is Matrix games, where Erik/Iain constantly remarked that their games wouldn't be successful on Steam. Thing is, every single argument I've seen Steve make (co-founder) I've seen made elsewhere, and every single time that argument has been made elsewhere it has immediately been rebuked the second someone goes the Steam route. What always bugs me is how resistant they are to Steam - an issue that has been of constant and amusing debate on their online forums. You'd think they could update it after like 15 years, but apparently not. Their site is still archaic as fuck to weave through, though. I'm actually playing the demo of CMFI right now - good stuff. Yeah, Battlefront makes great games, I just think they are a mix of antiquated business approaches mixed with new age bullshit. ![]() Below are some of my favorite features included in the new release: Weather where you want it And David Sparks released a great field guide for the new Fantastical including almost two hours of video, and it’s free too. By doing this, the one-second mark is where the ten-second mark would be on an ordinary chronograph. For the 4052, Zenith used a 100-tooth silicon wheel that would accelerate the chronograph hand to complete a rotation in 10 seconds instead of 60. The high-frequency precision of the 36,000 vph El Primero has always theoretically allowed for measurements of time down to 1/10th of a second, but the issue was always how to realistically measure such a small increment of time on a watch. The El Primero 3600 Calibre is not entirely 100% new, as a version of it was released (let’s call it a soft launch) in the limited-edition Chronomaster 2 El Primero Striking Tenth from 2019 (the 50th anniversary of the El Primero, in case you forgot), but it is now being rolled out as a standard production calibre after some refinements.Ī little background first, in case you’re unfamiliar with the “Striking Tenth” AKA foudroyante parlance that dates back to about 2010 (though Zenith first patented it in 2002) with the introduction of the calibre 4052. Predictably, a slew of cut-rate brands are flooding the market with shoddy scooters made from cheapo components. They’re cheap, and it makes sense: This is a hot (pun not intended) holiday product, the reputable models are pretty expensive, and more-affordable brands are using cheaper components to lure in shoppers that don’t want to spend a grand or more on a hands-free Segway. Jay Whitacre, Professor of Materials Science & Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, says that the problem doesn’t have to do with these self-balancing scooters themselves, but with the quality of the batteries being used. They’re just a lot more prone to defects. They’re almost always tucked in one of the foot rests, and they work the same way as the lithium-ion batteries in our smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Plugged in or not, the big problem has to do with the quality of the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries inside these things. In the mall incident, the board wasn’t plugged in at all there have also been reports of scooters bursting into flames while people were riding them. The perceived danger is significant enough that major airlines have banned the little vehicles altogether.īut what is actually causing all these fires? The annual change detection metrics were designed to highlight inter-annual changes of spectral reflectance and are used as source data for change mapping. Please, read the metrics methodology and select the metric types that better suit your needs here: 3.3. The GLAD system is designed to provide different sets of phenological metrics for various applications. Several years of data are preferable to implement gap-filling. Phenological metrics may be calculated using a complete or incomplete set of 16-day ARD for at least one year. The annual land cover mapping is based on annual gap-filled phenological metrics which simplify the analysis of surface reflectance and land surface phenology. Two independent types of metrics may be created from 16-day time-series data using GLAD Tools: annual phenological metrics and annual change detection metrics. Metrics represent a set of statistics extracted from the normalized surface reflectance time-series within a calendar year. The ARD product is used to create multi-temporal metrics that serve as a consistent input for annual land cover mapping and change detection models. Additional GLAD tools may be added from the 3.2. The installation instructions are provided in the 3.1. To use the ARD tools, you need to install ActivePerl ( ), OSGeo4W (usually installed as QGIS-OSGeo4W package from here ) and the GLAD_1.0 package ( ). ![]() In this section, we provide tools for application of the ARD time-series for land cover and land cover change mapping and analysis of classification results. The ARD product does not represent actual surface reflectance and is not suitable for precise measurement of photosynthesis, water quality, and other variables that require actual surface reflectance. Image credit (as supplied by PR): Deep Rising FX If you want to take full advantage of this plugin you’ll want a good GPU as that is where the simulators calculations are carried out. One of the great features about this plugin that you would expect when creating fluid simulations is that you can easily add bubbles, foam and spray and along with that add in realistic motion blur. This ease of use is actually one of their selling points and they’ve definitely achieved that. When you hear the words ‘particle system’ you might think that sounds terribly complex but with Deep Rising FX you’ll be surprised at how simply amazing fluid effects can be made. This plugin, at its core, is a particle system and therefore gives users the ability to make realistic fluid simulations. Having tried this plugin, you’ll never want to go back. They have also added transformations for stretch and size. You can also easily adjust the amount of smoothing that is given to a welded part. You can join meshes together with the resulting mesh being super clean. Not only does it give you a range of extra modeling tools but it also produces some brilliant results, all the while keeping the mesh detail under control and flowing well. With this one you can weld and hollow out your objects – all interactively within the viewport. Up next is another plugin to help you with your modeling. All of these deformations can also be animated enabling you to really bring your objects to life in a simple way. This is done by grabbing, stretching, rotating and distorting the lattice. Rather than having to undo all your hard work you can simply apply this Lattice Deformer to your object and then distort and adjust your model based on a much smaller set of points.
